I taught clinical skills to medical students for a few years when I came across this video. I knew Dr. Verghese from reading his novels, but hearing him talk about the power of touch made me feel like I was truly entrusting medical students with some of the most valuable skills they would have in their career. Watching this video every so often slows me down and reminds me just how precious our work is.
