David Fahmy
David Fahmy is a staff allergist/immunologist and education coordinator. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Allergy/Immunology within the Department of Medicine.
 
 
This gives an overview of how medical education currently focuses on individual competence, reductionism, and specialization.
However, this leads to isolationism leading to patients "falling through the cracks". She suggests that the medical education model should adapt to promote collective competence and gives examples in Family Health Teams and Surgery. As we transition to CBME, she raises some interesting dimensions that may not have been considered.
