The fifth session recording from the Writer's CHAT series, featuring Dr. Ilana Bayer and Dr. Teresa Chan. This session goes into detail about how to lead and coach a writing team to produce the best results in an efficient way.
CHAT stands for Conversations in Healthcare, Academia, and Teaching. This is a group-based discussion program that will feature key topics set for by a unified group of organizers on a given theme - this series' theme covers the process and core components of writing in an academic context.

We've been working hard with a Divisions of Emergency Medicine team to put together this amazing book for you about mentorship. For both Academics & Clinicians, this book aims to help you raise the bar in mentorship by providing you with worksheets and resources.

The FHS Inclusive Teaching CoP is a new community of practice for instructors in the Faculty of Health Sciences to learn more about inclusive teaching practices. The CoP had two meetings this fall term; in October they discussed βGetting to Know Your Learnersβ and in November, βInclusive Case-Based Learningβ.
They will be having two meetings in the Winter term:

Dr. Chan is the Associate Dean of the Continuing Proffesional Development office. Teresa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and a MERIT Clinician Scientist.

I thought this was a fascinating (and short) video about the science behind common biases in decision making. It summarizes a bunch of evidence and science from psychology and business literature around how we make decisions and how/why we can be pushed towards biased decisions. For any leader, clinician, or educator that has to make decisions that affect others, this is a neat little video that introduces some concepts that you should be aware of when you go around your daily business in health professions education. |
